Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!

If you have ever visited Lancaster you know there is no lack of entertainment here, specifically live entertainment. We have several Broadway caliber venues located throughout the county. One of the favorite entertainment destinations among both locals and tourists alike is The Fulton Opera House.
I recently had the chance – jumped at it actually -to see The Fulton’s production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. This show consists of characters created by James Bond author Ian
Fleming, a story by iconic children’s author Roald Dahl and music from the legendary Sherman brothers! Boasting to be “The most fantasmagorical musical in the history of everything!” the cast and crew sure had their work cut out for them when preparing the show. And of course, in typical Fulton fashion, they pulled it off wonderfully.
The costumes and sets were spectacularly done – everything from the Baroness’ Samba dress to the flying car itself was flawless. And with their enthusiastic smiles, engaging melodies, and synchronized dance numbers, the cast created a musical theatre experience not soon forgotten. I can’t tell you how many times I was doubled-over with laughter when the Baron and his wife took to the stage with their posse of obliging guards and a giant teddy bear.
Although Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is no longer playing, don’t worry. The theatre has announced its 2011/2012 season line up so you can look forward to many great shows in the coming year! Hairspray, The All Night Strut!, and Miss Saigon are just a few of the productions scheduled for the new season. For more information about the Fulton Theatre’s upcoming shows, Click Here.
