Fresh food at Root’s Market

This weekend is my sister-in-law Emily’s birthday bash, and we’re all going to the mountains to a cabin to hang out. So last night, Abbie & I went shopping to get food for everyone. The best place to go for fresh fruits & veggies on a Tuesday night is Roots Country Market. Every Tuesday, Root’s features its produce auction, as well as fresh meats, baked goods, absolutely amazing flowers (there’s a make you’re own bouquet stand), antiques, crafts, and more.

It’s more than just shopping, it’s an experience – you can chat with the stand-holders and find some really great bargains, especially on produce in the evening. There’s tons of parking, so you don’t have to worry about not getting a spot. One of my favorite things to get when I’m there is funnel cake. My husband & I could just go for an evening and walk around, eating our funnel cake and soft pretzels, and people watching – inevitably, we buy something though – there are just too many good deals!

If you’re looking to go, head out Tuesdays only, 9am-9pm through October, and then 9am-8pm November-March.
